Yummy....

Is there anything better than ice cream cake?? These are a couple more cakes I've decorated for work. I'm having so much fun with it.

Red velvet cake with sweet cream ice cream. It has cheesecake bites and chocolate chips swirled in and I topped it with a drizzle of chocolate ganache. mmmm.....

Last but not least (especially if your a big peanut butter fan!!!) This one is chocolate ice cream swirled with peanut butter and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups on a chocolate cake. I frosted it with peanut butter frosting.

Elder Zack Adair

So excited for my cousin Zack who will leave this Wednesday for the MTC in Provo!! Zack will be serving in the Washington DC South mission. He is going to be an great missionary! Zack is six feet and seven inches of pure awesome. I really enjoyed hearing him speak at his farewell. Can't believe how much he's changed and grown (Not just in height). But I am so proud of him and I know he's gonna do some awesome things.

I made these cupcakes for his open house after the farewell. (Chocolate Hazelnut and French Vanilla...They were yummy.)

Good Luck Elder Adair!! See you in two.

First Annual Marshall Family Halloween Party

I started itching to throw a Halloween party when I was flipping through my Rachael Ray magazine last month, looking at all of her cute Halloween party ideas. Of course, putting on a party is a lot of work so, naturally I teamed up with my mom. (She's really good at actually getting stuff done when it comes to these kinds of things.) She ended up doing a lot of the work and actually hosting the event but we had a lot of fun planning together and getting all the decor and games ready.  The party was a hit!! My family is so much fun.

I got to make the cake. It didn't turn out exactly the way I'd wanted it to-but it turned out cute!!

Oh and P.S. Here are some cute cupcakes I did for work. Go in and buy them at The Fix!! :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

Cake in a Basket

I am SO excited for Easter! This basket weave would look so cute on an Easter cake with Easter flowers on top!! Only...six months till Easter. I know I know...It's Halloween. I need to decorate something creepy but I learned this technique in my class and I was so excited to try it out. I couldn't think of a Halloween themed cake that needed a basket weave around the edges so I just decorated it for fun. Luckily my family isn't tired of my "I made this for fun, will you please eat some??" cakes. (I don't know....my husband might actually be a little tired of it.)

Next post will be an awesome Halloween cake. I promise!!

Brownie goodness

Past the halfway mark of my first week working at Fix coffee and ice cream shop. I love it!! So much fun! Today I decorated my first CUSTOM cake order through Fix. It sounded delicious! Instead of cake, the customer requested brownie on the bottom. (YUM!!!) Our brownies are homemade and delicious. (did I mention YUM????) She added cake batter ice cream on top of that and we swirled in chocolate chips. Hope she loves it.

I think it was for a co-worker who was moving away. (Hence the "we'll miss you" written on top)

Get Your CAKE Fix at The Fix!

As some of you probably already know, I am starting a new job at The Fix. It's a new, locally owned sweet shop here in Cedar City. They'll have ice cream, coffee, hot chocolate, pastries, and (of course) cakes!! I am so excited to be designing and decorating all of the cakes at The Fix. What could be more fun than going to work to decorate cakes?? I can't think of anything. Today I went in and decorated the first two of what I hope will be many cakes made while working at The Fix.

Flowery cakes...just in time for fall?

I've been taking some cake classes for the past few months. (I have been LOVING them.) So much fun. Mostly in the classes I'm taking right now, we're focusing on making flowers. Learning how to use gum paste and fondant to make petals, perfecting my butter cream leaves, piping roses. It's been a lot of fun to learn. However, it has required some patience. It's frustrating when the picture looks better than your first (or second or third or fourth or fifth) try. But I've also learned to appreciate the fact that not all flowers are supposed to look exactly the same. So when you put a bunch of pretty flowers together, it's harder to see their small imperfections. I've also learned that there is (almost) always a solution to a cake catastrophe. Just yesterday I tried a new frosting recipe on my cake and it completely melted bringing the sides of my cake down with it. I was ready to throw it away, but with the help of my teacher (and a pep talk from mom) I was able to fix it! You would almost never know.

Here are a couple samples. I'll post more next week. :) There have been lots.
